I always love it when two people show up wearing the same Shade top, yet styled a bit differently. This is what happens when we all love and wear Shade to work everyday! A Custom Shade 4th of July Tee!

Hello fellow bloggers, we're back and starting another week! This week should be a good time though, right? I think so since there are so many fun things going on for the 4th of July this weekend. I know here at Shade we're already excited for the celebrations and in honor of Independence Day, we thought it would be a fun office activity to take one of our Shade Perfect Tees, use our creative talents and customize our own festive 4th of July shirt! Shade store update

Every month, I've decided to do a Shade store update, to let you all in on the latest and greatest happening at our many Shade locations! Here's an update from Aly at our American Fork store, enjoy!

"Greetings Shade Blog lovers and welcome to the Shade store in American Fork, the hometown of Shade Clothing!

We are located in the heart of this charming little town, where we are able to provide all of you, our customers with the high quality product that we have all come to know, love and depend on daily! This is Aly, the assistant manager here to take you on a mini tour of our beautiful store! We opened the day after Thanksgiving in 2008 to a busy Black Friday, we endured the busy Christmas rush, we survived the harsh Utah winter and we are now thanking the air conditioning gods that our store is a cool 68-70 degrees round the clock. Under the direction of our fearless leader…aka Kyle, the store Manager, our team folds, hangs and stacks all the latest fashions that Shade has to offer each season. We work hard to give the customer the best experience they can possibly have in a clean and open environment. Our team consists of 7 lovely gals who love the product and know it well, to ensure that the customer is getting exactly what they need. We know our customer and love to assist in finding the perfect finishing touches for their special outfit! We try our hardest to stay fully stocked in the complete Shade Clothing line, so that you can for sure get everything that you are looking for when you come visit us!

Sometimes I just sit and think how unbelievable it is that all of this started in a basement here in American Fork. And now just a mile or so away, one of the largest Shade stores in Utah is thriving in this ever changing town!

Welcome back Wednesday Poll!

Let me just start today's poll by explaining that it's been a bit crazy this summer here at Shade, so if you haven't already noticed, I have decided to have "Wednesday polls" only every other Wednesday from now on. I decided this fits our needs a bit better than every week. So welcome back, we missed you last week on the "off" week, but we're back today!

Our last poll we asked you your favorite color pattern on a floral print and everyone seemed to like the yellow / navy combination the best. Coming in second was the black/ white, third was the purple/ navy combo. Seeing that it is rainy here today, and has been all week, (depressing for June) I was really wanting to veg. and curl up in my favorite oversized hoodie and watch old movies all day. So it got me to thinking.. what is your favorite type of sweatshirt ? Do you prefer a zip up hoodie? A pullover hoodie? Or how about a simple crew neck sweatshirt? Like I said, I know that I love curling up in my oversized hoodie after a long work day.. how about you?

Recipes by CK : blueberry coffee cake

This is one of my favorite things to eat for breakfast. Blueberries galore, a hint of lemon (everything should have a hint of lemon, if you ask me) and a good cake to berries ratio. Our family loves this and, hopefully, so will yours!

2 cups fresh blueberries
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons grated lemon zest

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
3/4 cup milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch springform pan. In a medium bowl, combine blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and 2 tablespoons grated lemon zest. Toss to coat berries, then pour into the prepared pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract and 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest. Stir together 2 cups flour and the baking powder. Beat into butter mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter over the berries in the pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Place serving plate over the top of the pan and carefully invert cake and plate together, so that the berries end up on top. Carefully unlock the buckle on the side of the pan and remove. Sprinkle toasted almonds on top of cake and serve warm.

Happy Friday!

Well looks like its finally here, ahhh... the weekend. I must admit that I am especially happy for it this week and lately, I've had a major "itch" to go camping... which of course means, I would need a trailer, right?! I'm thinking this is the one I want..
