Shade's Head Designer, Lyndsay, shares Fall 2009 Style Inspirations
A couple of weeks ago I landed in NYC eager to start my search for Fall 2010 design inspirations. As I walked the streets of Soho one evening during “Fashion’s Night Out”, a new event that the city of New York has established in order to boost the economy, I found that all I could focus on was all the amazing individual style that each person portrayed. This inspired me to really reflect on my own personal style….What was I going to embrace for this up-coming season? Here are a few things that I am really excited about:
One dreaded word….LEGGINGS. These can be your best friend, or your worst enemy. An understated pair of simple black leggings is a wardrobe staple. I found a great pair at my favorite store, Uniqlo. I opted for a sleek, simple pair with a row of small black buttons at the ankle. My favorite look is to pair these with a blazer, boyfriend tee, and a nice pair of flats. Here is another great option from American Apparel...
WHIMSICAL JEWELRY. I am really into anything vintage or vintage-inspired right now, especially when it comes to jewelry. I am also seeing a lot of pieces that evoke a sense of child-like fantasy. I recently came across Cosmic Firefly, a collection that is super cute and affordable on Etsy.
BLAZERS. I cannot get enough of this season’s blazer jacket. I am loving the over-sized, boxy silhouette with the rolled up sleeve. It is so versatile, I love this one below from Urban Outfitters. Wear with a t-shirt and jeans for a casual look, or dress it up with a great accessory, like a watercolor floral or sleek sequined scarf.
Speaking of sequins…..this brings me to my most favorite, this amazing SEQUINED VEST that I recently purchased from H&M. Here’s another example of a fabulous key piece that can instantly update your wardrobe. Below is a similar one by Derek Lam.
